The winner of the Miss Akomasi beauty pageant - a small town beauty contest in the outskirts of Accra, Ghana - wasn’t finalized until 4 a.m. Many of the patrons had to be woken up to hear the winner announced. But the contestants were determined to stick it out, pushing through even as a storm blew threw mid-competition. When the winner was announced, tears flowed, people cheered, and a victory walk was taken.
